Den Doings

Den 3
This year’s WEBELOS I Den has been working hard on their achievements. We have been to the First Aid Rally to learn about our Readyman Achievement, we have been winter camping and hiking with Troop 20, and swimming with Troop 6. We have made Catapults, Electric circuits with lights, motors with a wire, a magnet and 2 paperclips, and buzzers. The Pinewood Derby and the Raingutter Regatta kept us busy building cars and boats. At Webelos Outdoor Weekend, we have learned to tie knots, pitch tents and a dinning fly, shot arrows, raced cub go carts, cooked with Dutch ovens, and fed the pack desert at Cub-E-Los. Some of the Scouts have shared what they think of Cub Scouts and Pack 20.

Michael: My favorite thing about Cub Scouts is Cub-E-Los Camping. At Camping, I like Archery, BB Target Range, Row Boating, Bottle Rockets. This year I learned to tie and use Double Half Hitch, Taught Line and the Square Knot. I learned to use Dutch Ovens to make great Cobbler in the campfire. At my den meetings I built an electric motor and a marshmallow catapult. I have fun with my friends in Cub Scouts.
Zachary: I think Cub Scouts is a great activity to join. I learned so much that I'm surprised my head didn't explode from all that information. I liked most of the things we did like archery, the Raingutter Regatta and the Pinewood Derby. I especially liked the Pinewood Derby because I can make a car and race it against other scout's cars. Once, I won first place in my den with my car that my dad and I made. These are just some reason I enjoy Cub Scouts.
Jonathan: I like learning about engineering as we worked on our Engeneering Webelos Badge. I especially liked making a working electric motor, electric magnets, light circuits, and a buzzer during this project. We also had fun making our marshmallow catapults. Camping at Cub-E-Los is great!
Josh: I like the camping trips the best. There is always lots of things to do to keep me busy. Last year camping I earned my whittling chip. Now when we go camping I get to use my knife. That`s something that the younger boys cannot do. I have fun when we go camping helping my parents cook. Pancakes are my favorite thing to cook at camp. We also had a great camping trip this year with Troop #20.. We had a great time even though it was pretty cold.

Den 6
Our den has been very busy this spring between tours to the Piscataway Police Station and the Piscataway Recycling Center; Camping at Cub-E-Los; and fun den and pack meetings. Some of the Cub Scouts have expressed their excitement about our den. Here are their comments:

Dylan: I like the camping at Cub-E-Los. I especially like the Archery Range and the Fishing Derby. They are a lot of fun. My favorite thing about our den meetings is doing the activities with my WOLF friends.
Bryan: Things I never did before I became a Cub Scout are: Camping at Camp Winnebago; camp activities like Cub Cars Races, BB Range, Fishing, Roasting marshmallows, and sleeping in the woods with my family and pack; going to a Police Station. Fun things I do at my den meetings are: Tumbling and Rolling, learning “My Country Tis of Thee”, and playing extremely cool games. We are all friends and I have the best Den Leader, Ms. Shakahanna.
Robert: In Cub Scouts, I have learned to make cool stuff that I can play with and I love all the fun activities.
Brandon: I have fun at Cub Scouts because we help people and work together to clean up our Park. The funniest thing we did this year was making “Puddle Jumpers” at our den meeting.
Danny: I love camping at Camp Winnebago and the boating, Cub Go Carts and Acting in the Skits. My other favorite activities are the Rocket Launch, Racing cars in the Pinewood Derby and Marching in the Memorial Day Parade.
Christian: My favorite thing about Cub Scouts is the craft projects and activities we do in out den meeting.
Dominick: I like the den meetings. They are lots of fun and I like the pack meetings because I get to see all my friends.

Den 8
The tigers from den #8 have been busy working electives. While working on elective # 30 the boys planted carrots. They also learned a few magic tricks while working on elective #19. The boys can now poke a balloon with a pin and the balloon will not pop. WOW!!!!! Many of the boys also attended Cub-e-loes where they had a great time. They got to ride the cub cars, fish, shoot BB guns, archery, and just enjoy sleeping out under the stars. No RAIN this time.
